Judges’ notes

  1. Ella Langley leads all nominees with nine CMA nominations for 'Choosin' Texas', two more than her closest competitor
  2. First announced performers include Langley, Musgraves, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, The Red Clay Strays, Zach Top and Tucker Wetmore
  3. The 2026 CMA Awards stream live on ABC and Disney+ on Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and on Hulu the next day
  4. A tribute to Dolly Parton, who died Aug. 25, is planned; performers for the segment are unannounced
  5. Taylor Swift is nominated for Single of the Year but no official statement confirms whether she will perform

The Country Music Association has named eight performers for the 2026 CMA Awards, and the list maps almost exactly onto the top of the nominations table. Ella Langley, the night's leading nominee with nine nods, heads a first batch that also includes Kacey Musgraves, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, The Red Clay Strays, Zach Top and Tucker Wetmore.

The ceremony streams live on ABC and Disney+ on Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, with Hulu carrying the program the following day. That broadcast window is now the fixed point around which the rest of the lineup will be built.

Who is performing — and who is not saying?

The announcement covers musical entertainment only. It does not settle the telecast's biggest open question: whether Taylor Swift performs.

Reports have Swift attending the ceremony in support of her nomination for Single of the Year with "I Knew it, I Knew You." The CMA has issued no official statement on a performance slot. Until the organization confirms or the second batch of performers lands, that gap stays open — and it is the single variable most likely to move ratings conversation around the show.

For the announced acts, the bookings follow a familiar CMA pattern: performers skew heavily toward top nominees. Langley, Musgraves and Johnson all sit near the head of this year's field. Booking nominees as performers keeps the telecast's commercial appeal and its awards narrative aligned; it also means the show's producers have so far avoided gambling on untested draws.

What do the nominations tell us about the race?

Langley's nine nominations for "Choosin' Texas" put her two clear of her closest competitor — a margin that reads like dominance until you remember that vote totals are never published. The CMA discloses winners, not margins.

The other top nominees include Musgraves, Ben West, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton and Stephen Wilson Jr. Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has been a consistent Billboard charter, and the source notes her nomination count will surprise no one who has watched the Hot 100 over the past year. That chart performance is the measurable foundation under her lead.

What remains unmeasured: whether a nine-nomination lead converts into wins on the night. Historically, volume of nominations and volume of trophies do not track one-to-one, and the CMA's voting membership does not publish its reasoning.

A tribute with weight beyond the awards

The telecast will also carry a tribute to Dolly Parton, who died on Aug. 25. The source frames this as a loss felt by country music and by music at large, and the scheduling of a formal tribute segment inside a three-hour-plus broadcast is itself a production decision worth noting: it commits airtime that would otherwise go to awards or performances.

Expect the tribute to shape the emotional arc of the broadcast. Who performs in it has not been announced — and given that several of Parton's most obvious interpretive heirs are already booked as performers, the segment's lineup may already be hiding in plain sight. That is speculation; the CMA has confirmed only that the tribute will happen.

What does this change for the race?

For the contenders, a performance slot is exposure at the moment voters' preferences are already locked — CMAs ballots close well before the November telecast — so the bookings matter more for the genre's commercial calendar than for the trophy count itself.

For viewers, the practical picture is straightforward:

  • Live: ABC and Disney+, Nov. 18, 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT
  • Next day: Hulu
  • Announced performers: Langley, Musgraves, Johnson, Lambert, McGraw, The Red Clay Strays, Zach Top, Wetmore
  • Unconfirmed: any Swift performance; tribute participants; further performer batches

The first announcement sets the floor, not the ceiling. More performers will follow, and the Swift question will hang over every subsequent release until the CMA answers it.

One night, nine nominations, and a tribute still without a cast — that is the shape of this race so far.
